Cable and Internet Discounts for Seniors (2026)
Most providers do not offer a nationwide age-only discount. Compare verified DISH 55+, Spectrum Internet Assist, Cox and Lifeline options.
Updated September 28, 2026: Most major TV and internet providers do not offer a nationwide discount based only on age. Savings are more often tied to income, a qualifying assistance program, location, or a limited promotion.
Verified senior and affordability programs
- DISH 55+: DISH publishes a 55+ offer with a monthly on-demand rental, no-cost technician visits, and DISH Protect Plus at no cost for six months. It adds benefits but does not advertise a lower base package price.
- Spectrum Internet Assist: Seniors age 65 or older who receive Supplemental Security Income may qualify. Spectrum lists 50 Mbps service at $25 per month, with some qualifying households eligible for a $15 rate.
- Cox: Cox does not accept new applicants for a general senior discount. Eligibility-based ConnectAssist or Connect2Compete plans may be available.
- DIRECTV: DIRECTV does not publish a nationwide age-based senior discount.
Federal Lifeline
The federal Lifeline program provides qualifying low-income consumers up to $9.25 per month toward supported broadband service. Residents of qualifying Tribal lands may receive enhanced support. Eligibility is based on income or participation in approved assistance programs, not age alone. Apply through Lifeline Support.
Before accepting an offer
